Connect ZWA-2 adds Z-Wave and Z-Wave Long Range connectivity to Home Assistant Green or another Home Assistant system. Its 800-series chipset supports a Z-Wave mesh network and a separate Z-Wave Long Range network.

Configure the North American Z-Wave region to match compatible devices used in Canada. Z-Wave Long Range requires compatible Long Range devices. Zigbee and Thread use a different radio, such as Connect ZBT-2.

Getting started

Connect the adapter to your Home Assistant system by USB and follow the setup wizard. The adapter has a USB-C connection. Place it upright and away from obstructions for best performance.

Does a Connect adapter work as a standalone smart home hub?

Connect ZBT-2 and Connect ZWA-2 are USB radio adapters for a Home Assistant system. They add wireless connectivity to a hub such as Home Assistant Green; an adapter on its own does not replace the hub.

Which Z-Wave devices work with this Connect ZWA-2?

Use the North American Z-Wave region for compatible devices in Canada. The adapter and devices must use the same regional frequencies. Z-Wave Long Range also requires compatible Long Range devices.

What's the difference between the Connect ZBT-2 and Connect ZWA-2?

Choose ZBT-2 for Zigbee 3.0 or Thread. Each adapter runs one of those protocols at a time. Choose ZWA-2 for compatible North American Z-Wave and Z-Wave Long Range devices. The kit with both adapters combines Z-Wave with your choice of Zigbee or Thread. For Zigbee and Thread at the same time, contact us for help choosing an additional dedicated radio or a suitable Thread border router.

Can I use Connect ZBT-2 and Connect ZWA-2 together?

Yes. They serve different networks and can be used together with Home Assistant Green. ZWA-2 manages Z-Wave, and ZBT-2 manages either Zigbee or Thread. The kit with both adapters still uses one ZBT-2 for one protocol at a time.
